Robert began his construction career as a nineteen year old apprentice ironworker for Local #7 in Boston, Massachusetts. He assumed all the duties and responsibilities of an apprentice ironworker completing his three year apprenticeship with distinction. Upon becoming a journeyman ironworker Robert worked in many steel erection crews. He worked both on the ground “hooking on” (rigging steel for hoisting) and “in the air” as a connector.
With his exemplary work ethic and unrelenting desire to advance, he soon became a Foreman, a General Foreman and a Superintendent. After completing management, estimating and blueprint reading courses at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Robert became the Chief Estimator and shortly thereafter the General Manager of a large steel erector in Boston.
In 1979 at the Meadow Glen Mall, Robert worked as the Steel Erection Superintendent, the Owner’s Representative and the Assistant Superintendent for the General Contractor, simultaneously.
His entrepreneurial passion drove him to launch his own steel erection company in 1980, United Steel Erectors, Inc. United Steel successfully completed over $90 million of steel erection contracts in its ten year history. Two United Steel projects were featured in Engineering News Record.

Robert has unique construction industry experience. He has excelled in the field and in the boardroom. He knows drawings, specifications, industry standards and the laws that govern. His ability to examine contract documents, examine depositions, recreate the accident scene and determine breaches of contact and law are second to none. He is able to communicate his findings in a simplistic way that anyone can understand.
